Frequently Asked Questions
Why are your juices different than what I can get at the store?
Our blends are cold pressed, filtered, and bottled in our commercial kitchen, and contain no additives or preservatives of any kind. We also source as many of our ingredients a possible from our network of local farms and growers in the Lancaster, Pennsylvania region.
For more details, visit our WHY RIJUICE page.
Why do you use plastic bottles instead of glass?
Glass has a reputation for being environmentally friendly, but actually, it has a carbon footprint five times higher than plastic. Glass requires more resources for initial production, is much heavier to ship, requires much more protective packaging and handling measures, and is a breakage hazard from time of production to consumption.
What is HPP?
High Pressure Processing is a cold pasteurization technique by which products, already sealed in their final package, are introduced into a vessel and subjected to a high level of isostatic pressure (300–600MPa/43,500-87,000psi) transmitted by water. HPP respects the sensorial and nutritional properties of food, because of the absence of heat treatment, and maintains its original freshness throughout the shelf-life.
To offer our juice through retail partners, we must pasteurize them per FDA requirements.
Does the flavor of your juices change depending on the time of year?
Due to the seasonality of our local produce, the flavor profile of some juices will change slightly. At certain times of the year, they may seem sweeter than others. The type of apple being used will certainly have an impact on this. We keep our recipes as consistent as possible and only make minor adjustments to accommodate these variations.
What is the difference between “juice” and “smoothies”?
Generally speaking, a smoothie includes fiber from all items of produce. It is simply a blended mix of all fruits and vegetables. Juice is the result of fruits and vegetables that are separated from their solid material (fiber), hence why it appears more like a liquid.
Why is juice healthy? Couldn’t I just eat a healthy diet?
One should always lead a healthy diet consuming a majority of fruits and vegetables. However, consuming juice is an excellent way of doing so. Juice captures nutrients from a large quantity of produce and packages it in a way that is easy and enjoyable for the human body to consume.
Why juice when I can take vitamins to reach my daily dose of nutrients?
Most traditional multivitamins come in pill form, which is more difficult for the human body to digest and process. Although relatively healthy to do in practice, the body falls woefully short in absorbing vitamins and nutrients from supplements in comparison to absorbing vitamins and nutrients from natural food sources, such as juice.

Juicing has been touted as a cure-all for disease. Is this true?
By adopting juicing into your daily diet, we are confident that you will see improvements in your overall health. Those who incorporate juicing who are suffering from debilitating diseases or ailments should first consult with their doctor. Every health situation is personal, and one should exercise caution and common sense when dealing with ailments.
However, it cannot be argued that leading a healthy diet can only work in favor of improving your health, no matter what ailment you may have. Adding juice to your diet is an excellent place to start.
How many juices should I be drinking on a daily basis? When is the best time of day to drink my juice?
How much juice you drink and when you decide to drink it is entirely up to you. What is nice about juice is how quickly your body is able to digest it. This makes the juice a perfect snack or meal replacement at any hour of the day.
In terms of how much juice you should be drinking, we recommend starting slowly if you have never tried juice before. Try one or two per day with or between meals. Once you become a more practiced and adventurous juicer, you can work it into your diet in more creative ways.
Once I incorporate juice into my diet, are there any changes or side effects to be aware of?
If you supplement your juice with a diet containing low or no processed foods, you should expect massive improvements in both your physical and psychological health and well-being. A word of caution, however, diets featuring a higher daily consumption of juice may cause changes in digestive tract habits. This is not out of the ordinary, after all, the human body requires time to get used to new diet patterns.
